As part of the “Introduction to University Life” course taken by our first-year students in the Preschool Teacher Education undergraduate program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elçin Ayaz, Director of the Dicle University Children’s Education Practice and Research Center (“Children’s University”), was our guest at the invitation of the course instructor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rukiyye Yıldız Altan. Our esteemed guest informed our first-year students about the activities and projects carried out within the Children’s University. While presenting examples of one-to-one activities that can be conducted with children, she also offered recommendations to help our students develop themselves. She provided suggestions for those who wish to take an active role in social responsibility projects through similar practices and explained how they could mentor workshop activities appropriate to early childhood. In addition, she shared valuable advice to support our novice teacher candidates in adapting to university life.
The event was attended by members of our department faculty, including our Department Chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Filiz Elmalı, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Birsen Serhatlıoğlu. We would like to express our gratitude, first and foremost, to our esteemed guest Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elçin Ayaz for kindly accepting our invitation and for sharing her valuable insights.
